19th C. Shoe Shine Brush w/ Carved Lion
This fabulous early shoe-shine brush is carved out of oak, with a stunning "Peaceable Kingdom" style lion on top, along with relief carved "clasping hands" and a "star", which may be a Masonic connection. The worn bristles are horse hair. And it still retains some of its original black paint. A wonderful piece of Folk Art! I am not certain what the wood is, but possibly maple or birch.
An unusual and rare piece. Measuring approximately 10-12" long.
