Impressive pair of carved wooden valances, hand-carved wood, with later added shelf-tops. They retain remnants of their original oyster white painted surface that has worn down with age. Probably French origin. Ca. 1860-1880. A wonderful and decorative display that could be used over beds or windows, could also be used as wall shelves or as a narrow wall mounted hall table. Great patina! Each measuring

5 feet in length, 7-1/2" deep, 10-1/2" tall (from top to tip of ornamental carving).
