This is a tightly woven Appalachian basket, ca.1910 to 1930. The plaited underweave and the particular end treatment is characteristic of Tennessee and North Carolina baskets. This type of basket is very desirable among collectors.  It's in fine condition with just two tiny losses which can be seen in the close-up photos below.  A nice small size measuring 9" wide by 8-1/4" deep, 5" in height to the rim and 7-1/2" to the top of the handle.  A great little basket! .  Nice patina too!
